Yea they were in a good position until they had to fight the NK. I think Tyrion was correct there. His strategy that she doesn't want to be seen as a war tyrant was working for the most part. Then Jon showed up and shite hit the fan.

This season though Tyrion has definitely been oddly mistake prone.

He has only really made one suggestion this season and I think it's Out of desperation.

He really wants to everything he can to keep Dany from just burning down KL.

It’s not like he alone came up with the idea of sailing to Dragonstone. Everyone else was in that room too.

What was lost at the parley that wasn’t already lost?

Last season he was nonstop taking Ls he needs a win. One good thing about taking out the NK is that he is able to come back to the forefront a little bit after being sidelined.
