He says the Saints had a good draft despite limited picks. McCoy was the second best center in the draft. McCoy won't be Unger but Payton will figure out ways to play to his strengths in the run game. He feels McCoy isn't as quick as Unger was but McCoy plays with more power.

He feels Gardner-Johnson was a steal in round 4 because he had a much higher grade on him (2nd round). He says Gardner-Johnson is a great lockeroom guy.

Kollemann says Hampton provides solid depth. Sees Hampton more as a free safety if anything happens to Marcus Williams. He believes TE Mack & LB Elliss will be heavy special teams contributors.

Wasn't he the fastest Offensive Lineman at the combine?

I mean, I guess it's possible Unger was too (I don't remember), but I'm not really that worried about McCoy's speed.

Ran a 4.89... Faster 40 than Dwayne Haskins

Quickness doesn't equal straight line speed. Quickness is more about a player's ability to start, stop, cut or change direction then start again.

The 20 yard short shuttle is what is used to measure this ability.

Max Unger ran 4.50 at his combine in the 20 yard short shuttle yet ran a 5.35 in the 40 yard dash.

Erik McCoy ran 4.62 in the 20 yard short shuttle while running 4.89 in the 40 yard dash.

So Kollmann is correct. Unger is/was quicker which he mentions helped Max excel when he had to pull on dives & trap run plays. McCoy maybe able to make up not being as quick as Unger with his brute strength but where his speed will be a plus is on screens where he will be able to get downfield much faster than Unger could.
