Time constraints don't help but coaches are always going be overly cautious with a freshmen. I think LSU's heavy reliance on freshmen lately is why this is front and center.

I think that's a good point.

I put together a spreadsheet to look at the experience level of each roster. I used years in the program as the metric, so a JUCO transfer and a freshman both were a zero. A senior was a 3, junior a 2, sophomore a 1. Redshirt years obviously counted as well.

Kind of a way to measure institutional knowledge on the roster.

This is going to shock you, but 2009 was our highest scoring roster. 2017 was second.

The overall correlation between the roster score and level of postseason success was about 75%.

It's why I don't like the forced attrition every year that pushes out 20% of the expected returnees every year.
