Miguel has pretty much always been a good guy. He’s done some stupid regular teen stuff, but he’s never crossed the line outside of him using Robbie’s injury to win in the tourney and even then, you could argue whether that’s crossing the line. It’s a combat sport and if the injury is that series, Robbie shouldn’t be out there. It’s certainly not on Miguel to police Robbie for Robbie and Daniel. He pretty much stays respectful and takes the higher road in particular this whole season.
Johnny isn’t a “good guy”, because he’s a freaking mess. He’s been doing this “I actually care about being a functioning, non alcoholic adult” thing for less than a year? But his intentions are fairly pure. He lets LaRusso get away with a LOT man. LaRusso basically took in his kid off the street and adopted him. Yet when Johnny lets the kids crash at his place for one night, LaRusso is ready to fight him? Come on. That’s a tough pill to swallow for any man for your bitter rival and enemy to be raising your son because you weren’t around, especially when you feel like you’re finally in a place to try to make a connection. He handles himself with a ton of composure, and I can’t really recall anything Johnny did this season that was all that questionable outside of Coach Bombaying Miguel’s mom. Miguel also seems to have a fairly level head about that situation with his mom dating. It certainly doesn’t feel like Johnny thinks he’s walking on eggshells. Johnny let Kreese in. It was dumb, but it was certainly not his intent for Kreese to play such a prominent role. He got played by someone with a strong history. That doesn’t make him a bad guy.
