Millennials have a ton of debt. However, they don't help matters with the "I want it now" Veruca Salt style decision making. I mean, when you work at Sam's part time, and your spouse is a car hop at the Sonics, you probably shouldn't be buying the dream home on HGTV.

The home buying shows are great comedy. "She's a part time floral arranger and he builds artistic wicker baskets. Their budget, $1.2 million."

My wife was one of the ones who went to college, racked up debt, and ended up getting a job with a salary of 35k. It’s her fault however because she refused to drive to the city where the pay would be more because she doesn’t want to deal with traffic. She bounced around to different employers trying to find better pay before finally sticking with one. She now makes 50k+ with promotions in reach that pay upwards of 80k. Been with the company for 3 years. Took her a while to comprehend that the fantasy of walking into a job making 50-70k starting out was just that. Fantasy. Add in the fact every Tom, Dick, and Harry has the same degree and you begin to understand that piece of paper doesn’t entitle you to what you think it does.

And whoever said “those making 100k a year are struggling to keep up” are doing just that. Trying to keep up. If you can’t get by with 100k a year the problem isn’t the income, it’s your habits.
