It’s possible insurance hadn’t reported the accident yet because the claim wasn’t closed yet. Then they settled it after y’all bought the car.

How are accidents classified with CarFax? For example there is a huge difference between an accident where one car smashes into another and where someone bumps into a parked car and the bumper is just replaced with no other damage.
