It certainly could be for PC reasons.
Or maybe, just maybe, Christians no longer have such a stranglehold on the nation's culture that utterly secular institutions no longer feel compelled to put Christianity on a pedestal.

Empire State Building colors its lights on most days to celebrate something. Red and green for Christmas, blue and white for Hanukkah, super bowl winner’s colors the day after the Super Bowl, etc.
