If you want to know how good he was just look up the interview with Ronnie Lott when he was with the 49ers. When asked who was the running back he hated to tackle the most, his answer was Dalton Hilliard.
I watched him play a charity basketball game at Chalmette high school. First off his thighs were like oak tree trunks. During warmups they players were dunking and it became his turn. I thought no way was he going to be able to dunk. He ran to the goal, jumped and had the top of his head no more than 4” from hitting the rim.

The Dalton James Gang were during my first years of really following LSU Football. Great Back at LSU and with the Saints. A real shame that injuries slow down his career.

There was an iconic (to me at least ) photo of him catching a screen pass against Florida his freshman year. The defender went low and Dalton highstepped over him. The photog caught the exact moment. I think the pic made it on the cover of SI.

Saw him in the gym armory one day playing with some other players. Dunked the basketball from a flat footed start ... ridiculous power in those legs. His thighs put Kieland Williams’ calves to shame.
