Cam looks to be retarded from oil gunk buildup, thus oil being trapped on gunk and the retarded cam. You wouldn't see an oil pressure problem because of less area due to buildup.
Put a motor craft filter on it, put 5w-20 in it, substitute one quart of oil for lucas oil stabilizer, and get the code cleared. Change oil within 3500 miles next time and repeat these steps. After that it should be fine, if not, needs a chain job.
