People are transitioning to digital game sales. The only thing that really kept them afloat was the used market. That’s becoming a smaller and smaller piece of the pie.

I knew it would happen eventually but it's happening at a much faster rate than I anticipated. I figured we'd have at least another 2-3 generations of physical media, we may only have 1 more.

I'll be sad to see GameStop go. I've never really understood the over the top hate for them. The most common complaint is their ripoff prices for trade in games, which is completely true, but nobody is forcing you to sell them your games. Their trade in prices suck, everyone knows this, don't sell them your used games.

All I use them for is picking up physical copies of new releases on launch night. Without Gamestop most people's only widely available option for physical copies of games are at this point the big box retailers like Wal Mart and Best Buy and stuff. Having a store dedicated specifically to games just feels right (even if at this point half the store is just geek pop-culture swag).

I'm resigned to the fact that physical media for games is destined to end at some point, probably sooner rather than later, but still FeelsBadMan.

Holy hell, I cannot believe we still have them at all.
