I share the frustration of traveling to BR from West of the river especially on Fridays. However, I don't think it would be appropriate for LSU to be involved in anyway regarding the building of a new bridge beyond agreeing that it would be beneficial to have one.

I live west of the river. I've had LSU Baseball season tickets for 34 years. I don't let the I-10 bridge backup keep me from going to games. I use the old bridge (US 190), I-110-S to the Govt. St. exit and then River Road to the Box. If I-110-S has any degree of backup in the downtown area, I exit I-110-S at the Chippewa St. exit and use 4 laned Chippewa St. to River Road past downtown and on to the stadium. Changing your route to the Old Bridge (US 190) and then the using the logistics described above once in BR should add approximately 10-15mins. to your drive time for the extra miles and do wonders for your disposition.
