They know OH cans are in high demand and are hoping this helps parish's reputation on the national level, but even OH doesnt sell them for $24. They sell for $20-22, but the median income there is much higher.

Urban South had their tall cans this weekend at $20 which surprised me.

Everyone in this thread will spend $5, $6, $7+ for a beer at the bar but thinks it's outrageous that a limited release beer sells for that much

I would respect parish more if they were consistently having releases or re-releases instead of the usual stuff at random times instead of them dropping a release like this on us twice a year.

I hope Nola stays at their price point.

I'll also go to a steakhouse and buy a $40 steak, what is your point?

The bar market marks up all their alcohol. That’s part of going out to drink, you know what you buy is marked up that much. Staying home to drink isn’t the same market. Nobody expects to pay 4x the store price to drink at home like they do at the bar, and you shouldn’t have to. Plus if beers like this ever make it to a bar, you think you’d still be paying $7 a beer? No, you’re paying like $15

This is how I feel about it. I don't blink when a beer I want is $6-8 at a bar, so why wouldn't I spend the same here?

Parish dick suckers come into these threads and say the stupidest shite to try to make Parish look ok

I don't think you see a huge cratering, but the exponential growth seems to be slowing. Numbers might show something different, but the hype train has slowed which is usually the first sign.
The breweries are great because it is a bar you can bring your kid to. In New Orleans that is a huge perk.

The beer tastes the same if it's on or off premise. I get that the bar has overhead, so they mark up the price of the alcohol, but the product that I'm buying is still the same.
ETA: and a restaurant is different from cooking at home, for that other comparison that was mentioned. At the bar, they aren't making, or preparing the beer. They are just pouring it. Service is also a much greater aspect of what you're paying for at a restaurant than a bar.

I'll pay $30 for a shot of BTAC at the bar but there is no way that would equate to what I am willing to pay for a whole bottle. Bottle is $99 retail. (not talking secondary)

Do you go to a bar solely to drink, and not socialize? A bar is a place to drink with friends, and not have to worry about cleaning your place, or providing beer and food or generally entertaining. The bar does the entertaining for you. That’s why you pay $8 for a beer that would be $2 at the store. It’s a markup to keep them running. It’s not a brewery saying “let’s see how much we can charge for a beer that’s almost exactly the same as one we sell for $3 a bottle, minus another brewer’s name on the label”

But you're saying "I'm okay with the bar marking up for on premise consumption so why would I care when the brewery does it for off premise?"

Exactly. It’s like 25 shots in a 750ml bottle. $30 x 25 = $750. Absurd markup. But you aren’t paying for the alcohol at that point, you’re paying for the bar/restaurant to host you

I always figured part of the price I was paying at a bar was for the ambiance, like a cover tacked on to the price of the drink.
I don't clean the glass, cool the beer, pour it, have to worry about going buy 10 different types for my friends to enjoy...
I might be crazy though.

I get the overhead aspect of the bar. The service that the bar provides isn't a big deal to me. In my mind, I'm paying for the beer, not typically the atmosphere or service. Which is why I don't mind paying $6 for a pint of beer outside of a bar.

If that’s the case then you’re the exception, not the rule, tbh. You should be drinking at home at that point, it’s a lot cheaper. It’s also worth noting that if these $24 4 pack beers were sold at a bar, they’d be marked up as well. Would you pay $15 for a single serving of one of these beers? Maybe once. But probably not consistently
Edit: basically if you’re just drinking at home and buy a better quality beer since you’re saving the money from not drinking at a bar, that’s cool. But it’s still a huge markup, and the principle of that turns a lot of people off

I'm saying that I'm okay with paying $6-8 for a beer regardless of where it is purchased and consumed.
Why do I care where the money is going? If I'm getting the same product for the same price, it doesn't matter to me.
