When the government gives you $2500/month and you can't feed your kids because you spent it frivolously, what happens? There is no SNAP. There is no WIC. You're going to be begging for charity in the streets and eventually your family will starve and die.

I was wrong, Yang's site notes that payment for the UBI would come not only from possible savings to welfare payments but from a 10% VAT. I may be wrong but a VAT is far closer to sales rather than income tax and thus would first require a Constitutional Amendment.

I did some quick math on the Yang's UBI and even before the VAT the cost would be outrageous. The economic costs of a 10% VAT would just be the final nail on our economic coffin.
