True but the agent works for the player, not the other way around. Ingram could have told his agent, "Look, I like it here in New Orleans and I want to stay. I'm going to take the offer and you're just going to have to deal with it." But that didn't happen. So my guess is that the agent told Ingram that he could get him 7-8 million/yr. When the Saints offered 4.5, Ingram & Co. were insulted and that's why they didn't return calls. Then suddenly it became a buyer's market and Ingram was forced to take a deal substantially lower than what they expected. In short, they overplayed a hand that wasn't as strong as they thought it was.

At the end of the day, the agent got his and Ingram will have to deal with playing for the ravens.

We don't know if the agent told Ingram to grab that saints deal either.
