I feel bad for Benford

Y’all wanna make him the scapegoat because it’s so convenient to say “well it would be different if WW was here.”
Honestly, MSU wants it more. And I hate to say that because it’s usually a cliche but the effort on the boards is obvious to see. And this isn’t a WW/Benford issue. We have often struggled with lackadaisical effort on the defensive glass, but our talent has often been enough to overcome.
If you need a certain head coach to get your players to box out, then your players are the issue- not the coach you’re missing

The players have no effort, but his coaching is pure arse... let’s not act like he’s some genius. I’m not even saying if Wade was there right now we’d be winning, but things would be different.

The Spartans have been unconscious with the 3 ball.
They're crashing the boards.
We're playing Wade defense where wide open shots are alway there for the opponent.
This reason our defensive rankings were pure crap.
The team is talented and athletic. It's been mentally tough in many games and gutted out wins. It's lacks defensive awareness and a true perimeter threat.

Benford is doing his best but our plan of attack on both ends has been poor at best. State was getting those open 3’s bc of our weird doubling and over helping.

Again, this has been an issue all year. It seems like all our weaknesses are showing tonight at the worst time and Benford is blamed for us.
With Wade, we also cheated a lot on defense and led to open shots. We were lucky teams didn’t make at the clip MSU is making. We’ve been a “lucky” team all year. We’re a good team but we’ve won quite a few games that we shouldn’t have won.

The early weird doubling was a gameplan we haven’t seen this year. The over help and doubling the post was here with Wade too that much is true
