My advice to my kids will be to have a plan very simply. At some point we decided that we should not be burdening 18-year-olds with decision making about their future.

If you want to go to college and have the ability to that’s awesome but you have to have a plan for a functional degree that has the potential to yield A career.

Can’t relate. I got a useful degree and I’m making great money. I went into college knowing I needed to get a useful degree. I guess I had common sense. I did eff around for 14 years and accumulated 200k in student loan debt but after I graduated I paid it off in 5 years. The fear of that debt motivated the hell out of me.

My wife, on the other hand, got useless degree by her own description. It prepared her to tote kids around and stay under 130lbs.
