That's a hell of a crew to bring down for your first time with a 17' river. Not saying don't do it but I would wait to do that to later in the year when the river isn't so high.

I would strongly advise avoiding Venice for now for the first time when the river gets below 10' and even better below 4' in New Orleans you will be MUCH better off.
