This should relieve some doubt that he may not sign with us

You could have put some context into the thread.

quote:

Jared Cook chose the Saints over the Patriots in part because he wanted to be the top tight end on any offense he played in, and at the time he picked the Saints, Rob Gronkowski had not yet retired.

quote:

Gronk announced his retirement on Sunday and Cook hasn’t officially signed his contract... is it too late for him to change his mind?

quote:

According to Peter King, he won’t. A source told King for Football Morning in America that Cook will not reconsider his decision and is committed to going to New Orleans.

Go get Quinn. After we do that, the question then is how much do we win the super bowl by and are we the greatest team of all time? '85 bears could probably stay with us 3 quarters, but no one else.

So why the hell haven't we made this happen yet?

I think they’re just having fax machine issues. I’m sure his LOI will come through soon.

My thoughts exactly. Are they really still bouncing back and forth contract details? This has been going on for what seems like over a week

5 days actually but still should be wrapped up by now. Usually when news breaks that a player and team are "close" on a deal the official done deal news breaks just a few hours later. Hoping to hear somethin today. We really could use this guy.

Super Bowl or bust.

They want Cook and Quinn.

I guess there is some risk but Cook and the Saints have likely already come to terms. The holdup now is to maneuver around the cap with the potential addition of Quinn.

Maybe without Quinn they try to eat more of Cook's cap hit this year but if we get Quinn then Cook gets a larger signing bonus and they have to make a few extensions/restructures with other players. After our dead money issues over the years its probably the smarter play.

Yeah our front office has been solid and earned trust. They got this.

Give them 50 feet and buy your super bowl tickets they will put us in best shape to win now. I am super sure of that line of thinking.

Yep. This is exactly what I was going to post. They probably want to get the Quinn deal done before they make the Cook deal official...just to be safe.

They know that Cook is on board, so they're taking their time. I think Cook agreed to terms a few days ago.

This seems obvious to me. There is no Cook news for a reason, because he's off the market.

Otherwise his agent would be drumming up visits and headlines to spur his market.

Pretty much. I think if the FO thought there was any chance of losing Cook...they would've already made the deal official. I mean, Cook already said goodbye to his Raider teammates.

We either get Cook & Quinn, or we just get Cook imo.

My only concern was his agent trying to squeeze a few more $ out of the Saints due to the Gronk news and the Saints getting pissed and walking away. I see he is represented by CAA so this shouldn't be an issue.

Personally I just wish it would get done. He would instantly take our biggest weakness and transform it into a strength while also allowing us to go as close to BPA with each of our limited draft picks.

I keep seeing this but why hasn't he signed yet? Are they still working out minor details almost a week later?

Heard on the radio this morning that Gronk's agent said he wouldn't be surprised if Gronk comes back. I doubt the Patriots are really the cause of the delay here, but if they are, I assume someone has pointed this news out to Cook and his people.

I thought maybe Gronk was positioning for leverage.
