when someone rushes you with a knife what are you gonna do?
See here in the US we get to actually defend ourselves against deadly threats

Our terrorist attack has a man with a shot gun who kills 2 people. In America there would be dozens dead. I know what I prefer..

You are making his point, dude.
The murder rate here is higher which justifies gun ownership

you didn’t answer my question.
When someone comes at you with a knife to carve you up what are you gonna do about it?

No point. Just thought it was an odd outlier.

I’m not saying Americans shouldn’t at all? I’m saying it will work in NZ the exact same way it did here

You guys get way too defensive over your guns not once did I say Americans shouldn’t own them. If I lived there I would want one too. The point I was making is a country like NZ they done a good thing getting rid of there automatic weapons. There’s no need for them. There’s a reason the Australian guy done it it over there in NZ

Your country’s gun laws in the 90s did absolutely nothing, dude.
1) Australia robbery rates SOARED in the immediate aftermath of the gun buyback
2)firearm suicide and Homicide rates fell at a SLOWER RATE after the gun buyback than before
3) Australia gun ownership has actually been increasing substantially in the past 15 years

The stats clearly show Australian gun control laws were ineffective
I posted graphs in a previous post in this thread

The murder rate in Australia is roughly 1 in 100,000.
The murder rate in the US by knife is roughly 1 in 100,000.
Tell me again how guns are the problem in the US? People will murder with the weapon that is most readily available. In our case its guns. However the knife murder rate is higher than many countries total murder rate. This speaks volumes about our population's capacity for murder (a knife is a more difficult murder weapon to use, but we have a knife murder rate greater than many other nations total murder rate.

You can outrun anyone? And what about your wife and/or kids? You just going to run away?
Can women and the elderly just run away too?
How dare they defend themselves

Australia's Gun Laws: Little Effect
quote:
However I much prefer my chances of avoiding someone with a knife than a semi automatic weapon. (Which has not occurred since our ban following the port Arthur mass shooting in 96’).
This lie again? Do you ever think critically or do you just parrot what you are spoon fed by your leash holders out of habit? You had a mass shooting at Monash University in 2002. You had one last year in Osmington. You've had others. Your bikies conduct regular drive-by shootings at each other. Your laws did nothing, in fact, if you actually looked at the data the only effect of the 1996 laws seemed to be a blunting in the rate of decline of firearms-related homicides. The rate was already declining (a global trend actually) and that rate slowed after 1996 (the US on the other hand continued a very sharp decline).
