But that really isn't the relevant stat, is it.

Let's say we hypothetically have two groups (1) Christians, and (2) Muslims. Let's say 50M Christians significantly outnumber 5M Muslims.

Let's hypothesize Christians and Muslims don't get along; in fact they occasionally attack each other. Let's further suppose just 5% of Christians are victimized in these attacks, while 10% of Muslims are attacked in return.

What does that say about the Muslims?
(1) They are twice as likely to be victims, but
(2) They are 50 times more likely to be perps.

All just a hypothetical of course.

Of course. But this is why anti-Muslim violence will be covered more than anti-Christian violence. It’s because the average Muslim in your scenario is in more danger than your average Christian.
