Hillyer joined Congressman Robert Livingston's staff in 1991. He rose to the position of press secretary for Livingston, who became the Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee in 1995.
Hillyer has written for The American Spectator and the Washington Examiner.
In 2013 Hillyer ran in the Republican special election primary for U.S. House in Alabama. He wrote in the American Spectator:

But just because it is listed as an opinion piece doesn't change whether the facts recorded in the article are accurate.
So why don't you just list the facts that you think are incorrect in the article?

Can you tell me:
a) What is Trump's Birthday?
b) Based on this, what were Trump's Vietnam Draft Lottery Numbers for each year he was eligible for the draft?
c.) When / if Trump's numbers were called, during the years he was eligible for the draft?
After you provide that information, then tell me how a perfectly clean bill of health for Trump would have made a difference.
