Anyone have experience with both? I'm leaning Empire because Quality Sod has been more responsive when I've spoken to them, but I could be persuaded.

We had our entire front lawn sodded with Empire Zoysia last October... we didn't get to choose the variety, so I'm guessing it's what was available.
Zero complaints... it's soooo much better than the weak St. Aug we had before. We are 8b/9a hardiness zone here in N. Central FL.

I have no experience with Empire but I put down Palisades in my front yard. The appealing part of Palisades was I could cut higher and use a rotary mower.

I was talked into zorro zoysia and I am happy with it 6 fall and winter months later. I am curious if there is any different spring care I should apply than my previous st aug.

Empire Zoysia is fantastic. Cut it low and often and you'll have a golf course look.

How has it worked out? I am leaning toward Palisades or El Toro because our back yard gets a fair amount of shade, but I don't want to be cutting the lawn every 7 days. I was also hoping to cut high, use a rotary mower, and not have too many problems with thatch or disease.
