Joe Alleva: AD in Title Only

I don't believe this for one second. If he was so powerless, why was he allowed to hire Orgeron?

I think Joe is simply using the BR media to deflect blame to compliance and the Board to save his own arse.

He hired Orgeron, because Alexander, just as he's doing now, caved to media pressure, with all of the Miles sympathizers gasping that LSU would have the audacity to fire their "winningest coach ever", and then Alleva got totally played by Texas with the Herman negotiations. Because they wasted so much time chasing Herman down a rabbit hole, they were left with no one. That's why Alleva was "allowed" to hire Orgeron.

But they didn't need to give him anywhere near the kind of money, nor the amount of years they gave him on his deal, considering Orgeron had no leverage. No one wanted to hire him. Not even Syracuse.

The fact that Alleva isn't calling all of the shots does not absolve him of blame. If he had any integrity, he'd stand up to the people over him and say "no, this isn't the right move. You wanna fire me? Go head, but I'm not dragging my reputation through the mud for you". We all know what he did at Duke. He doesn't have near that kind of integrity, and probably has none.

Dude really? The AD does have some power as far as hiring and such but even that he doesn't have full control of. What very few of them have is true overall control of athletics. They are puppets to the higher ups! I hate Alleva, but y'all are kidding yourselves if you think he is nothing more than a puppet with his strings being pulled by the puppet masters!
