How any Jew can be a Democrat is even more mystifying than a straight white male being a democrat. I can understand Jews not being republican but I can’t understand them being loyal democrats.

At the time of the Maccabee revolt there were "Hellenizing" Jews who sided with the Greeks. They would undergo procedures to reverse their circumcisions, ignore kosher laws, attend orgies, all in the name of being "enlightened" instead of "backwards". But they still wanted to call themselves Jews.
Catholics are the same way. Plenty of cafeteria Catholics who support abortion and even infanticide, vote for crony capitalism and endless war, oppose religious freedom, and ignore Church teaching in their personal lives.
