It’s time to accept the possibility that Trump was more of the same but packaged in a way to take advantage of rising populist sentiment.

I am by no means sure of any of this, and still want to believe that not every single one of our politicians is working to give away the country, but where is the lie in the OP? We can’t stick our heads in the sand.
