The legal ethics rules prohibit attorneys from contacting people they know to be represented by counsel about the subject of the representation unless that person’s attorney gives permission or court order/other law permits it, what makes Barton’s response really petty and overdramatic is he represents the school, he doesn’t represent Alexander or Alleva individually so whether Wade’s Attorney actually broke the ethics rules is really up for debate. In this case, it probably wouldn’t be grounds for any discipline because of all the ambiguity, Barton must’ve just been having a bad day when he responded.
