Bump since this is a fight that should stay at the top of the front page. You don’t see this type of fight happen in boxing much anymore...
We all mostly agree Spence will take this, but you have to give it up to an undefeated, multiple weight champion who, against his promoters & trainers & family’s wishes, said frick it and will jump up in weight to take on one of the top p4p guys in the world.
Why would an undefeated, 4 division world champion jump up multiple weight classes to fight a top p4p fighter instead of taking it easy & racking up easy pay days in his natural division?
Bravo, Mikey Garcia
That’s old school way of thinking right there.

quote:
“I’m taking this fight because I believe I can win, not because it’s a big fight or because I want to make a big noise for myself. Nah, no,” Garcia said. “After I win this fight, there’s no denying I’m No. 1 in this sport. No one else will have accomplished what I have. No one else will have the record I have. And no one else will be able to say they’re equivalent to me in accomplishments. That’s why I’m taking it.”
Bravo, Mikey Garcia

Floyd Mayweather could have learned a thing or two from this guy, but he milked his career and fought a lot of guys past their prime to keep that 0 going. To even count that BS fight against McGregor is ludicrous.
I watched the greats of the 70's fight all comers and not cherry pick their fights and they let the chips fall where they may.
Guys like Duran, Hagler, Leonard, Hearns and a host of others that took fights to challenge themselves and cement their legacy in the sport of boxing.
