Lol, you can’t defend your point.

I know Why we set up the electoral college.

I am Asking why it’s better than an popular vote at representing the voice of the people.

Do you think the people of NY and CA should be able to determine the policy of every other state in the country? Is that representative of the broad cross sections of society/culture?

Because when you have mega-population centers like NY and CA, then their numbers become much more powerful than rural areas. Our fore-fathers understood this and protected our country from having only heavy population centers represented in our government. Can you imagine what laws would be on the books if we did not have EC? Farmers would have basically no representation at all in the Federal Government.

States like Louisiana and Alabama would have very little voice, they would be at the of the population centers.

How could this be, you ask? Well, because those states get the heaviest voice in the House of Representatives. It gives far more power for a "Tyrant" like Donald Trump to manipulate people in the large population centers with laws that benefit their lifestyles. Manipulate the population centers, keep the power with the Tyrant's family.

If DJT was a true Tyrant like the lefties say, eliminating the EC would be the absolute worst thing in the world for the left.

Lets say just for example California decides it wants to go all in to get a Dem candidate in and stuffs the boxes, highly unethical but very possible, with the EC system they still only get 55 EC votes, it prevents one rogue state from swinging an election.

Because we're a federal republic with a constitution that governs presidential elections. You actually seem to want a French Revolution like mob easily whipped into emotional political frenzy to represent the "voice of the people".
