As a fan that became a novice level Deadhead only earlier this year do to CV-19 I can say that Jack Straw is one of my favorite songs. The different "favorite versions" listed here are exactly why I think they are so great. Same song, different version and I have simply never got tired of listening to them constantly after almost 5 months.
As a guitar player:
I am now playing many of the ones I like best: I can play Deal, Althea, Bertha, Trucking but Jack Straw has been almost impossible for me to play as the chord/shapes are crazy.
Props to Jerry for his various Mixolydian lead scales. Incredible technique.
