The administration knew all of this information almost 2 full months before the season even started. Either make this move then or ride it out.

If LSU’s administration truly knew this information in advance, then shame on the administration for letting Wade dangle after letting him coach the season. They should have referenced it in a formal statement, basically treating it as know (and old) information knowingly released by a defendant in a federal investigation. Additionally, the request to include this previously known information in the federal trial was denied by the presiding judge.

I would assume LSU spoke with Wade’s attorney after the story was released, he said he wasn’t producing his client for reasons related to the subpoena and the administration then used that as the crutch to publicly demonstrate some form of weak action.

Bingo.

This is exactly what I think happened, and something I pointed out to someone last night who as suggesting that Wade's attorney's not allowing him to speak to LSU was evidence of his guilt.

The legal process is always complicated, even for the innocent. There are sharks out there looking to make big money off of people, by slandering them any way they can. You have to be very careful what you say, and that is presumably why Wade's lawyers said no to LSU.
