quote:Well in basketball language, and especially in this discussion, penetration and entry passes are two different things. A guard penetrates better and more often vs man than vs zone. That's why it happens less vs Florida.
Entry passes are a form of penetration into the zone defense.
quote:You get more fouls with dribble penetration because dribble penetration necessitates more body contact--same as running vs passing in football.
What the frick does it matter if you use dribble penetration or entry passes?
Zone makes for defensive help and switching by design, so beating a guy off the dribble (phrase in bold because I'm 12) accomplishes nothing vs a zone. The best way to beat that Florida zone is to pass to the high post (Reid), creating four passing opportunities--the problem with LSU this year is that three of those options are on the perimeter, and the 3's aren't falling. At any rate, LSU's zone breaker discombobulated UF's zone just enough to win this time. Geaux Tigers.

On my TV, Reid was in the corner a lot, as if he is Klay Thompson waiting to fire from deep.
He was out of position to rebound, no less some fancy high post passes.
