I’m so much like this. Drives me crazy. And like you said I’ll even make a conscious effort to tell myself to pay attention to the lyrics, but more often than not it all blends together. Describing the voice as just another instrument is the perfect way to describe it. Most of the time I have to look up the lyrics.

However, I definitely care about lyrics and meaning. I’m just really bad at making out what is being sung unless I can see a mouth moving in a video.
