Been looking to upgrade my PC because it's been about 4 years

Specs:
GTX 970
i5 4690K 3.50 ghz
8 Gb Ram DDR3
ASUS MAXIMUS VI HERO DDR3 2800 LGA 1150
1tb standard HDD
250 GB Sony SSD
Not upgrading PSU. Might get a new tower. I don't want to replace the whole thing but what would you guys upgrade if you could spend around $500-600 ?

Sarcasm or no? I haven't been keeping up with anything in tech. Is cryptocurrency still driving up prices?
I'm thinking about upgrading my mobo, cpu, and ram soon. Already have a 1060.

I'm being serious
Nvidia released several budget options in the last few weeks that have absolutely great performance.. gtx 2060 might be the GOAT budget gaming card.

Since when is $350 a "budget" card?

It kind of is now with the prices.

quote:Honestly, it's either a gpu or a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade. New cpu means new socket, so new mobo. And most new mobos require DDR4, so new RAM. If you want a gpu and cpu, you're probably closer to 700-800.
$500-600
Eta: of course you could sell the old parts and bridge the gap between 600 and 800.

I think a GPU upgrade would probably be enough for now.

Yeah gpu and 144hz monitor if he doesn't have one

Fair point..
If I was building from scratch and had less than $500 total I'd probably just get one of the ryzen 5 APUs and upgrade gpu down the road.

Maybe a RTX 2060 and a monitor

I got the 144 Hz monitor. It’s very nice. Ok what GPU do you guys suggest ?
Posted on 2/23/19 at 10:17 am to poncho villa
2070 imo not a bad 4k card and handles 1440 with ease
Posted on 2/23/19 at 10:19 am to Devious
Maybe a 2070 and another 8 GB RAM as DDR3 is pretty cheap
Or upgrade keyboard and mouse
Or upgrade keyboard and mouse

I wouldn't waste the money on ddr3 ram since it will be replaced in a future cpu upgrade anyway
Posted on 2/23/19 at 10:32 am to Devious
It's only like $30 but I guess if he never needed it then don't bother

You need a new GPU and more RAM for sure.
