I found 2 PC builds online, Besides the price difference, would the performance be that much different to justify the higher cost build of option 2? Any tweaks yall see that could be made.

It all depends what resolution and frame rate you want to play at. I would look into the ryzen 5 2600 or i5 8400 over the 9600k though

Yep. Can get a cheaper b450 also and spend the money for the GPU.

What's the reasoning? Idk that's why I'm asking. Also if you were to build a pc in this price range from the ground up, I'd love to see all the parts youd choose

AMD Build

This slightly cheaper than the $1300 option you listed earlier that you could make even cheaper if you wanted to downgrade the motherboard, case, hard drives, and power supply.

8400 and Ryzen 5 2600 are better values than the 9600k.

The 9600k is overpriced by almost $100 in some cases compared to both.

The 8400 is more than adequate for games at 1080p if you don’t need to overclock, and the R5 2600 is unlocked AND has hyperthreading whereas the 9600k doesn’t.

The 9600k isn’t a bad CPU by any means, but it just doesn’t make sense to get for $260.

Also if you can get a brand new/slightly used 1070ti right now, I’d argue that’s a better buy than a 2060 or a 2070.

I like the build but I think I'd change the RAM to LINK as it's 3200 and it's only $110.

I've seen a few benchmarks and it can be 5+fps difference.

Why did you get the 1050 Ti? Thought we recommended a 580/590 or a used 1070.

Not only that but he paid $175 for it. You can get a 6 gig 1060 for cheaper than that used.

My son visited a couple of his friends that had PCs and based on how he saw their builds and what different components they were using this was the card he chose to go with - I researched it on PCPartPicker and there were a lot of builds with it with excellent reviews.

If it is a bad card and won’t do what he needs let me know - I can always send it back and order something different before we install it. We just ordered parts this week and haven’t gotten it all yet.

With this being his first computer and my level of experience (or lack there of) I wasn’t going to buy used parts for his first build.

The 1050 Ti isn't a "bad" card at 1080p.

I heard from my tech geek buddy that AMD is back on top over Intel on performance.

This correct?

It's a bad price to performance IMO. A 580 8GB would kill it.

580

1060

Cheaper 580
