Just bought one and stocked it with 2 10tb hd. What are some of the must have apps other than plex?

The one I use the most is Cloud Sync to sync up to AWS. Also PLEX.

so what did you get?
I want to get one so i can quit relying on my desktop for Plex, which isn't wired into my modem, but i know nothing about NAS storage.
My biggest thing is not losing my collection of movies, and family photos. Right now i have 3 external hard drives, only one of them actually plugged into the computer. I go and backup that hard drive with the other two every once and a while. My thoughts behind this is if i get an electrical surge that shorts out my computer/hard drive, then i don't want everything plugged in all the time. I've been hit by lightning twice and lost a computer and hard drive already.
If I get a NAS with two bays, one mirroring the other, i'd still be susceptible to the same failure right?

Surveillance Station - Used it a lot once upon a time but the app was usually slow to load even when I was on my home network.
Cloud Station - my own personal dropbox so my personal files are personal and not stored in the cloud
