McCabe is publicly stating that there were multiple conversations with Rosenstein (both individually and in groups) about taping Trump. He also is saying there are others who will corroborate the fact that Rosenstein was gung-ho on audio taping Trump. Where he gets very technical however is by stating on the record that he did not "authorize" Rosenstein nor did the FBI "authorize" Rosenstein to audio record Trump but insinuates very clearly that Rosenstein did audio tape the President to set him up.

This is why McCabe wants to testify about the entire process not just about whether Rosenstein was joking about taping or not.

The more I hear the more I suspect that when McCabe turned down the audio request by Rosenstein that Rosenstein turned on him because he no longer trusted him. Rosenstein then pushed Trump into allowing him to fire him.
