First off, there shouldnt be any holiday there. Secondly, what did Columbus do to deserve a holiday? He was a moron and murderer

Oh, come on. Haven't you heard? Columbus was EEEEEVIL! All was peace and love in the New World until his imperialist, genocidal, disease-carrying posterior arrived on the scene.
Rewriting his place in the history of the West is one of the top 5 SJW imperatives. If anyone could prove that an ancestor was directly oppressed by Columbus, that person would live at the very top of the intersectional food chain in perpetuity, I'd bet.
