7 hours ago everyone was assuming walker lost his job to hill. Now hess is out and walker is the friday ace. Maybe just maybe a little overreaction? Hess will be fine

No, this Hess "situation" is entirely different. He had an awful 2018 season as a starter. He didn't have command. Tonight he looked the same as last season. He most likely belongs in the pen. This is blatantly obvious.

Eh, it's early. Lange had command issues at times too.

He was not awful in 2018, just not ace-worthy.

There are two big things keeping me from being too down on him.
1. Its game fricking 1, give him a bit to figure it out
2. He is coming off an injury

The kid needs to come out of the pen. He is a ridiculous weapon from there.

Consistency has always been his problem. I don’t see him becoming that consistent starter but closer is a different story.

Geez, did you ever nail it! A top-ranked team's Friday night starter, Hess is not, he may never be LSU's Ace. A closer, yes. Just not mentally tough enough to work through multiple innings and out of jams, takes a lot of toughness to do that consistently. Your Ace pitcher fears no batter at the plate, he welcomes the challenge. When Hess admitted that feared facing some of LSU's batters, that was clearly a sign he's not ready to be LSU's Friday Ace.
