Hilliard is still not back to where he was last season, IMO. I think he needs more work before he can be counted on to be effective this season. I really hope that he is able to return to the level of his freshman year. He could be a key pitcher out of the bullpen for us.

I have to imagine Hilliard is just shaking off the rust at this point. Once he’s able to get a couple outings going without having to rest his arm we’ll see him back in form.

The amount of spin he puts on his curve to get it to do what it does has to put some stress on his arm. That is what worried me about him as a starter. I think it eventually caught up with him last year. If he can get it all back together, may make more sense to bring him in in relief.
