I really think Publix gets so much love because they are not local and people associate them with being on vacation.
Their prices are high, they don't have the greatest selection, and not very good meat and seafood departments. The stores are extremely clean with great customer service though.

I used public 2-3/week for 5 years and would straight up switch every Rouses to Publix. It is one of the few things I miss about Atlanta.
