Musgraves is completely shunned by country radio and it is a total mystery as to why.

Pretty good article asking that question - LINK

She definitely doesn't fit the mold of what you would consider radio country - LGBT advocate, openly sings about smoking weed, etc.

She also doesn't make trite, overdone music, for the most part.

Song of the Year-
"This Is America," Donald Glover and Ludwig Göransson *WINNER

I saw this on the news feed, never heard of it, so I gave it a listen last night.

I am very open minded about music. All genres I can find something I like.

This song confused me. It's just not my cup of tea, and that's fine... but Song of the Year? Really?

Now get off my lawn.

what the frick? I know that artists will collaborate on another dude's song but is this the norm these days? like 12 people on one song with another 4 or 5 having to write it?

I think the way that it works is if the producer sampled another song, they have to give writing credit to the original song maker. Hence why so many name.

I get that but the weed thing is a double standard. If she were a man it would not be an issue. I am pretty sure Willie Nelson made a career out of it.

All that aside, a song like Space Cowboy should have been a huge hit. It is a shame they are deciding playlists based on anything other than the music. She also is a woman in a hugely male dominated genre. There are rarely more than 1 or 2 women in the top 10 on country radio and often there are none if Miranda and Carrie are on a break.

Not to advocate, but for context it could help to know i dont think people generally separate the song from the video that accompanies it. When you consider the political/artistic climate we're in itll probably click

That and glover is one of the most critically fawned over artists in music/tv today. for whatever thats worth

This article covers exactly that.

So wait, what is the best way difference between album of the year as record of the year?

Record is for individual songs.
