To suggest this doesn't happen is either really deceitful or really naive, dude
Left wing and right wing lobbying groups have as their main mission helping the people who share their vision get elected.
You are essentially arguing that nobody can have any genuine convictions as a member of govt. All viewpoints and votes are based on monetary gains.

It's truly asinine

I'm sure HHTM is rebelling against the idea politicians are always for sale, which is a fair thing to reject.
But pretending politicians go into office as immovable on most/all key issues and then the special interests just come and fund them is hilarious. Some of these issues (2A) are practically litmus tests for party inclusion, but you have to be delusional if you don't think there are a shite ton of moderate Republicans who don't give a shite about gun rights but want to stay on the right side of the NRA.

You need to go back and read the ridiculous hyperbole you've posted in this thread. It's hilarious.
You're now arguing that every politician has deeply held convictions about every single issue before they announce their candidacy.
I keep thinking of that Charlie Wilson's war scene where he is hesitant to deal with Pakistan because he gets elected by Jews. Not the 3 Jews in his district, but the ones in New York and Florida that donate to his campaign.
Obviously Hollywood hates Jews and that's a purely fictional notion.
