Did immigrants in the early 1800s actually fill out paperwork? I never thought of that before - I don't see any documentation of that sort in the genealogy research I have been doing for 40 years. I only have 3 who fit that slot, and I have researched them more vigorously than I have any other 3 ancestors in my lineage.

My family immigrated from Germany in 1792. Their immigration papers came from the church in Germany. Saw these when I was a kid at my Grandmothers. Other side of my family was prior to that and wound up in Texas, great great grandfather killed by Injuns in 1867. My clan has been here long enough to know we are not immigrants, descended Yes.
