Correct .. kind of a storyteller type format. Where it gets aggravating is when people start yelling cover songs for him to play. There’s only so much of someone yelling “Freebird” a guy could take. If you want cover songs go down to the corner bar.

I saw him last year, that show was not all acoustic. Perhaps it depends on the venue.

I attended a "dinner and acoustic set" with Charlie Robison a year or two ago, and it was one of my favorite concerts ever.
He did one set of songs that he had planned, took a break, and came back to let the guests make requests.
I asked him to play Indianola, and he said that he had not performed it in years. Whether it was time or drink, he actually skipped a stanza of the song, but I loved it anyway. It was fun asking him what made him think to write a song about an immortal, 19th century German immigrant to Texas.
