What's the ideal pre-emergent to use on lawns?

you will get a bunch of answers depending on what grass you have. I used Team for the past year. did good the first application last spring but didnt work too well this winter. I dont believe i put enough down. but you should be spraying growing weeds right now.

I'm going to do a combination of spraying and putting down pre-emerge. Re-doing an area of my back flower beds at the moment and will be putting down some pre-emerge after i bring in some soil.
For the yard, i have centipede.

I have zoysia. Is it too early to spread pre-emergent for the spring growth?

in south louisiana you can spray weeds alomst throughout the winter. it will be 70 degrees tomorrow
what the frick does that have to do with today's hi of 50? it'll be 90 in May too.
my point being, you can spray em throughout the winter. Or you can do it once when the weather is right.

Quick pre emergent run down
Also a really cool map of the US with soil temps. just pick your location and it gives you a current, 24hr avg, an 5 day avg.

You are the one that brought up temp. I don't like my yard in the winter to be green with winter weeds. I guess you do.

I was just giving you a hard time. I sprayed 2-4-D two or three weeks ago on some pastures. Killed the shite out of the yellow flowers and other trash that was coming up. Still have to hit the yards, but waiting till I get a weekend that’s not windy or cold. But you’re correct, lots of broadleaf that’s needs to go. And no, I ain’t crazy about it. Should have sprayed it in November or December.

No prob. Im debating on when to kill all the Bermuda that has invaded my yard. It is about a 25% section. And if I kill it all at once, it will be a big dead spot.

I'll probably end up killing it all at once, removing the dead stuff, till it up and lay some sod there. It's also the lowest part of my yard. I might have to level that area out before i lay any sod.

Do you have St.Aug or something else in your yard?

Cenepede. I have some over the top II (sethoxydim) ready. I guess I'll kill it back in strips to try and get the cenepede to grow back. I missed the timing last year and the Bermuda just grew back.
