Is this a trend in our state?

I and most my friends from college moved out of Mississippi, so I’m thinking this is only the case in crappy states.

It is more of a small town thing than any particular State and is going on nationwide as our economy continues to change, it is just magnified in the states made up primarily of small towns.

Just no small town jobs anymore that pay well, agriculture has become much more mechanized and all the mills/plants have closed down while margins in retail are so thin that only the box stores survive and pay as little as possible

The issue is those who can move away ASAP and the chaff stays around and breeds turning small towns nationwide into shitholes, it is a hard cycle to break.

I moved from Louisiana to Mississippi for a pay increase and a lower cost of living.

I miss home often, but the numbers just don't make sense to move back to LA.
