I'm not a big country fan, but I immediately thought of country songs.
Waylon Jennings: Are You Sure Hank (Williams) Done It This Way?
Somebody told me, when I came to Nashville
Son you finally got it made
Old Hank made it here, and we're all sure that you will
But I don't think Hank done it this way
No, I don't think Hank done it this way
**
Barbara Mandrell: I was Country, when Country wasn't Cool
I remember singin' with Roy Rogers
at the movies when the West was really wild
I remember circlin' the drive-in,
pullin' up and turnin' down George Jones
***
Waylon: Luckenbach Texas
Let's go to Luckenbach, Texas
With Waylon and Willie and the boys
This successful life we're livin'
Got us feuding like the Hatfields and McCoys
Between Hank Williams' pain songs and
Newberry's train songs and Blue Eyes Cryin' in the Rain
Out in Luckenbach, Texas ain't nobody feelin' no pain

John Cougar Mellencamp: Rockin' in the U.S.A.
There was Frankie Lyman-Bobby Fuller-Mitch Ryder
(They were Rockin')
Jackie Wilson-Shangra-las-Young Rascals
(They were Rockin')
Spotlight on Martha Reeves
Let's don't forget James Brown

Also Jerry Jeff Walker (and Jerry Jeff's train songs).
