14 in that one parish alone? That is incredible. Multiply that out by all the parishes just in Louisiana and the problem is unimaginable.

I'd love to know how many priests served Houma in that time span and what the percentage is that the 14 represents. I gotta believe it's 1/3 or close to it.

Good on the bishop for releasing the names, though. The fact that the Catholic Church as a whole continues to defend and protect these predators is beyond sinful and corrupt. My guess is if they allowed all of those guilty of diddling kids to be prosecuted, there may not be enough priests left to run their churches.

My take, as a catholic, is that evil frickers across all demographics molest kids. Catholic priests probably did it with with quite a bit more frequency than the general population. The church’s response to the problem has been absolutely sickening. The claim that other people do it too in no way justifies the actions of molester priests or the church.

So that's 14 in 40 years. I wonder if a comaparable number of protestant ministers were accused of similar crimes during the same period? Or more?
