So, do we have a recruiting problem? New practice facility and if our current girls were making decisions at 14-15, does that not coincide with our super 6 run? What's the issue?

This may be a long post but for those who are actually interested I'll give a crack at it

The senior class was ranked the #1 class in the country when they came in as freshmen. Priessman who used to be one of the best gymnasts in the entire world has been handicapped due to her body and injuries as an elite so she has never been able to truly give LSU what we anticipated her to do. Cannamela had a major shoulder injury her sophomore year and that is why she is not in the lineup now. Not much to say about McKennas injury, unlucky, It happens in this sport unfortunately.

Junior class was a top 5 class with Edney Harold and Kirby. Edney has not been her self on vault since she was a freshmen for whatever reason. Harold is an international elite but the main flaw with her gymnastics for years was as an elite, the coached only cared about competing difficulty and not on the execution which is why she has struggled adapting to NCAA level. Kirby suffered a knee injury but before that had a procedure done on her elbow this fall. She was suppose to be in the bars lineup this year but it looks dim now.

Junior class IMO is where things are catching up with us. It was a very big class with 7 kids. Campbell was a highly recruited kid but suffered some big injuries at the end of her JO career and the injuries have impeded her training and performance at LSU. Dean was another kid who was expected to contribute but she suffered a big injury as a JO kid and hasn't been the same since. Desiderio body gave out so she came to LSU early. She has been pretty big for LSU but her physical shape right now is absolutely poor. She was one of the best floor workers in the entire world as an elite. Durante had offers from Georgia, OU, Florida before coming to LSU. She too had a major ACL injury and is just starting to finally do gymnastics again. Edwards is a project we found at a camp, and actually is pretty good and did well her first year but has been shaky so far this season.

2018 class (this year freshmen) IMO is fully on DD and Jay Clark as they completely missed on multiple recruits, including Trinity Thomas who is now at Florida. We had no choice but to bring Ferrer up. Ferrer's floor was rough tonight but anyone who has watched her gymnastics over the years knows she is great on floor and vault. I think the nerves and been thrown in there last second got to her.

I think in combination of coming up short on that 2018 class and the 2017 class all rolling around in wheel chairs half the time has been a big part of why we are in certain position we are in now. This team is not as deep and talented as the last few years but this team mentally has struggled with confidence early on and its flown over to multiple events. Tonight was a wake up call and changed will need to be made
