Legalizing marijuana is so far down the list of problems in this state.
We are losing population, those remaining are having to pay more for more government, and our infrastructure is crumbling.
If only there was a way to bring in a new, growing industry that made $9 billion in 2017 while only being utilized by 9 states and 30 medicinally.

The addition of the Golden State is huge for the industry and Adams estimates that national marijuana sales will rise to $11 billion in 2018, and to $21 billion in 2021.
There has to be a way to get Louisiana in on this growing soon-to-be $20 billion industry. I can't think of a way to do this, but I'm sure our elected state officials will be the spearheads for progress like they always are.

If tomorrow weed were legal nationwide the profits from weed would collapse. The revenue to the state might be similar to revenue from cigarette or liquor taxes nothing more.
The arguments for weed should not include government revenue. It is an individual freedom issue.

La. has opened the door for medical MJ which I supported. It has gotten off to a slow start.
Look at Colorado, a state more populated than La. for reference.
2017 total sales 1.5 Billion (RO)
2018 approx same rate.
2017 just retail was 1.09B
2017 medical was 416M
So we are off and running albeit slowly.
In 2017 247 million in taxes were realized by the state.
